Vagrantsong is a cooperative, story-driven adventure game in which players take on the roles of drifters trapped aboard a supernatural ghost train known as the Silver Ferryman. As they travel through its mysterious railcars, they encounter various spirits called “Haints” and gradually uncover the secrets of the train and the tragic stories of its inhabitants.
The gameplay revolves around player cooperation throughout a connected campaign featuring more than twenty scenarios. In each scenario, players spend coins to perform different actions such as moving through the train, investigating mysterious locations, searching for useful items, and using their characters’ special abilities. Rather than simply defeating enemies through brute force, players are often tasked with restoring the lost humanity of the spirits, creating unique and thematically rich objectives. Each Haint comes with its own rules, special attacks, and distinctive mechanics, ensuring that every scenario feels different. Throughout the campaign, characters gain new skills and items, grow stronger, and adapt to the challenges awaiting them at the next stop on the train.
