Virus is a tense cooperative science-fiction horror board game designed by Michele Quondam, in which the world is facing the deadly Virus Q. Infected humans and animals transform into bloodthirsty creatures, and humanity's last hope lies in investigating the secret military laboratory where the virus first emerged.
Players take on the roles of members of a special task force that must infiltrate the laboratory, gather crucial information, and discover a cure before the catastrophe wipes out humanity completely.
Virus is a so-called “lab crawler” game in which players gradually explore a laboratory made up of modular rooms, ensuring that every playthrough is different. The game board expands according to the players' decisions, and exploring unknown areas can lead to both valuable discoveries and deadly dangers. Monster movement and event development are controlled by a unique semi-automatic system that reacts to player actions and creates a constant sense of threat. Combat requires careful coordination of movement, shooting, and special abilities, while success often depends on dice rolls. One of the game's standout features is its real-time gameplay, forcing players to communicate quickly, make decisions under pressure, and work together efficiently to achieve their objectives. The game can be played cooperatively, semi-cooperatively, or competitively, while the infiltrator option adds even more tension, as a player with hidden motives may secretly sabotage the rest of the team.
The base game Virus also includes two expansions: Heroes and Walls Expansion, which expand the experience with new possibilities, characters, and challenges, adding even greater variety and replayability to every session.
Virus is an adrenaline-fueled adventure that successfully combines cooperation, exploration, and survival in a desperate struggle against a deadly biological threat. 🧪
