Wispwood is set in a magical forest where shimmering wisps – tiny, playful forest spirits – move among the trees. A curious cat wanders into the forest, drawn by colorful lights, and you try to guide these little light spirits so that your forest shines the brightest.
The theme blends fantasy, nature, and gentle mystery, while creating a sense of exploration and the growth of your own forest.

Each round, you choose a wisp tile and a shape (polyomino) to add to your personal grid – your growing forest. The wisps have specific placement requirements, and so do the magical trees. You place the tiles in a grid that expands from round to round: from 4×4, to 5×5, and finally to 6×6. The goal is to fulfill scoring conditions as effectively as possible. Each round, the forest expands or fades, while the wisps you have already placed remain, making your decisions permanent. A new goal card in every game changes the conditions and ensures that each playthrough is different. Although the game looks gentle, it requires good planning, as every tile has its own pattern of connections and scoring rules.
