Woodcraft is a Euro-style board game designed by Vladimír Suchý (known for Praga Caput Regni and Underwater Cities) together with Ross Arnold. It takes players into a fairy‑tale world of woodworking, where they craft masterpieces from wood—from furniture to musical instruments—and manage their workshop with the help of magical assistants and tools.
In the game, you run a woodworking workshop deep in the forest, where you grow trees, saw lumber, glue pieces together, and fulfill product orders. The world is filled with whimsical green‑haired creatures, blueberries serve as currency, and hazelnuts are victory points—everything contributing to a playful yet functional thematic setting.
Different colors and values of dice represent wooden pieces that must be manipulated (cut, combined, glued) to complete orders. Players choose between seven actions arranged on a rotating wheel—the longer an action goes unused, the more powerful it becomes. You upgrade your workshop with tools, hire assistants with unique abilities, and source wood either by growing it yourself or buying it on the market. Completing orders earns points but requires careful planning and resource management. Every few rounds, players receive additional resources and points based on their progress.
Woodcraft is an imaginative and strategically rich game that blends creative woodworking with a tense optimization challenge in a fairy‑tale forest. 🪵
